To step into the caesura is to enter a space where presence and absence hold each other in tension, where erasure speaks back. The Tyranny of Time and Generation Gaps is a lecture in verse that draws on African poetry, imagining it as a counter-archive, one composed of voices that refuse silence and refuse disappearance. The lecture evokes poems that resist the brutal workings of colonial and extractive systems: fragmented forms, choral rhythms, and prose-poetic structures that collapse linear narratives and hierarchies, all while reaching toward the sacred, the ancestral, and the living. Here, poetry is both radical and tender as well prayers of fury and songs of survival.
